JTECH GuestCall IQ Pager Reset and Troubleshooting
A GuestCall IQ pager resets itself when you put it back in a charger slot. If that doesn't fix it, the display (blank, "LO", or a melody) tells you what is wrong.
Reset a GuestCall IQ pager
- 1
Push it into a charger slot until it clicks
Inserting a pager into a charger slot resets it. Order in the charger does not matter.
- 2
Check for the red light
A red light on the pager means it is charging properly.
- 3
No number on the display? Pull it out and reinsert it
If it was off the charger for a long time, the battery is flat. Give it 2 hours (IQ pagers fast-charge in about two).
- 4
Still shows "LO" after 2 hours of charging?
The NiMH battery pack is worn out. JTECH rates them for 3 to 5 years and the pack can be replaced on site.
When you lift a pager off the charger it runs a 5-second flash-and-vibrate demo. That is normal and can't be turned off.
What is your JTECH fleet costing you each year?
The numbers below are rough estimates. Change them to what you actually pay.
Estimated yearly cost
$610
$220 hardware + $390 staff time
With Bzz, guests scan a QR code and their own phone becomes the pager: a live place-in-line page in the browser that alerts them when it is their turn. There are no pagers to charge, pair or replace.
Free plan to start. Busier venues move to a paid plan, see pricing.

Every pager is playing a melody and none can be paged
That is the out-of-range alert: the pagers cannot hear the transmitter.
1.Check the transmitter has power and the antenna is locked on
A loose antenna is enough to cause it.
2.Power-cycle the transmitter
Unplug its power cable for 15 seconds, then plug it back in.
3.Return the pagers to the charger
This stops the melody.
4.Check the Out of Range setting
In setup, Out of Range can be switched on or off. It is off by default.
Getting into transmitter setup
1.Press SETUP, enter 1379, press ENTER
The display says to use * to scroll the menu.
2.Scroll with */Menu, select with #/Select
Press CANCEL to back out.
Out of the box the system flashes and vibrates when paged, with range test, duty alert and out-of-range alert off. JTECH says these defaults suit most venues, so change one setting at a time.
Pagers out of numerical order
IQ pagers are programmable on site and renumber in sequence. Put every pager in the charger, then run the reprogramming option in the transmitter setup menu. JTECH says you can do this as often as you like.
Paging and locating
1.Page a guest
Enter the pager number and press SEND, for example 11 SEND. The pager alerts for one minute, then resets.
2.Find missing pagers
1249 SEND makes every pager that is off the charger alert. Docking them stops it.
Never use the locate code while pagers are out with guests: every one of them will go off.
Power and FCC licence
Use only the AC adapter supplied with the system (another one voids the warranty) and put a surge protector on every power supply, because surge damage is not covered. In the US these pagers use licensed business-band frequencies. JTECH's manual says you may operate under its nationwide licence (call sign WQKJ800) or get your own, and either way you are responsible for following FCC Part 90.

- Blank display in a powered charger
- Pull it out and reinsert it. If it was off charge for a long time, charge it 2 hours.
- "LO" after 2+ hours of charging
- Battery pack worn out (3–5-year life). Replace the pack.
- All pagers play a melody
- Out of range: check transmitter power and antenna, unplug the transmitter for 15 s, dock the pagers.
- Pager flashes for 5 s when lifted
- Normal demo cycle. It can't be changed.
- Numbers out of order
- Put all pagers in the charger and reprogram from setup. They renumber in sequence.
