LRS Pager Programming Guide: Steps for Every Transmitter | Bzz

Long Range Systems (LRS) programming

How to Program LRS Pagers, by Transmitter Model

How you renumber an LRS pager depends on the transmitter you page it from. Check the model on the transmitter label, then follow the matching steps. The TX-9560MT and TX-9561MT are the most common.

TX-9560MT / TX-9561MT: program one pager

  1. 1

    Press 9-9-6-PROG

This puts the transmitter in LRS Guest Mode, where only LRS coaster and paddle pagers can be paged.

  2. 2

Lift only the pager you are programming off the charger

Wait for it to finish its vibrate-and-flash start-up sequence.

  3. 3

Enter its number (1–799) and press PROG twice

For pager 20: 2-0-PROG-PROG. Hold the pager about an arm's length from the transmitter.

  4. 4

    Watch for the confirmation

The transmitter's red LED (top right) lights once and the pager flashes or vibrates. Pagers with a number display show the new number.

  5. 5

    Test it

Enter the new number and press SEND. Repeat from step 2 for the next pager.

Before you start, put every pager at the venue on its charger. Then you lift and program one at a time without mixing them up.

What is your LRS fleet costing you each year?

The numbers below are rough estimates. Change them to what you actually pay.

With Bzz, guests scan a QR code and their own phone becomes the pager: a live place-in-line page in the browser that alerts them when it is their turn. There are no pagers to charge, pair or replace.

Freedom transmitters (TX-7400A, TX-7460, TX-7470, TX-7471)

Freedom transmitters use a setup menu. Put all the pagers you are programming on one charging base and leave a second base empty, if you have one.

  1. 1.Press SETUP and enter password 31337

    Then press F2 (DN).

  2. 2.Press 1 (Program), 1 (Prg Pager), 1 (Guest Pagers)

Choose 1 for Coaster or 2 for Paddle, then 1 for Non-Alpha or 2 for Alpha.

  3. 3.Choose vibration

F1 for yes, F4 for no.

  4. 4.Enter the number for this pager, then lift it off the charger

When it finishes flashing and vibrating, press ENTER. It flashes once and shows the new number.

  5. 5.Answer the "did it beep or vibrate" prompt

It won't have beeped. If it flashed and shows the number, press F1 for yes. F4 retries.

  6. 6.Move it to the empty base and continue

Press F1 to program another (you go back to entering a number) or F4 to finish.

  7. 7.Test every pager

Lift each one off the base, page it and check the number. Reprogram any that do not respond.

TX-9550LCMG

  1. 1.Press 9-1-6-PROG

This sets LRS Guest Mode on this model (note 916, not 996).

  2. 2.Lift one pager off the charger

Let it finish its vibrate-and-flash start-up sequence before you enter anything.

  3. 3.Enter its number and press PROG once

For pager 23: 2-3-PROG. The pager flashes or vibrates, and display models show the number.

  4. 4.Test with number + SEND

    Repeat for the next pager.

Chargers and storage

Older LRS chargers are solid jet-black and run on an AC power supply. Newer ones are see-through (you can see the board inside) and run on DC. Old and new pagers can share a charger, but don't connect old and new chargers together.

Seasonal venues: LRS says pagers should never sit off charge for more than four months, or the batteries can fail completely. For a long closure, leave them on charge or, once a month, take them off for 3 to 5 days and then put them back.

Symptom → likely fix

Pager won't take a new number (9560MT/9561MT)
Press 9-9-6-PROG first, wait for the start-up sequence to finish, and hold the pager an arm's length away.
Wrong number after programming
Program pagers one at a time with the others left on the charger.
Freedom asks "did it beep?" and you're not sure
It won't beep. If it flashed and shows the number, press F1.
Stacked pagers didn't renumber themselves
LRS does not support auto-numbering on the base. Program each pager from the transmitter.
RX-CS6 number doesn't match after reprogramming
The CS6 has a printed sticker, not a display. Update the sticker too.
Whole fleet dead after the off-season
Batteries that sat off charge for over four months may have failed. Charge them, then test each one.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the transmitter. On a TX-9560MT or TX-9561MT, press 9-9-6-PROG, lift one pager off the charger, wait for its start-up sequence, enter its number (1–799) and press PROG twice. On a Freedom transmitter, use SETUP with password 31337. On a TX-9550LCMG, press 9-1-6-PROG, then the number and PROG once.
LRS's programming guide uses password 31337 after pressing SETUP on the TX-7400A, TX-7460, TX-7470 and TX-7471.
No. LRS says auto-numbering while stacked on the base is not supported, so each pager is programmed from the transmitter.
Yes. LRS says the Guest Pager series and older Coaster Call pagers can be used and charged together. Just don't connect the old black AC chargers to the newer see-through DC chargers.
Use the guest's phone as the pager. With Bzz, guests scan a QR code and follow their place on a live page in their own browser, which alerts them when their table or order is ready. There are no pager numbers to keep in order.
